50 Cent ft.Justin Timberlake - Ayo Technology

Act: 50 Cent ft. Justin Timberlake
Track: Ayo Technology
Year: 2007
Director: Timberland & Danja
Genre: Hip-Hop, dirty rap
Main Audience: Teenagers aged between 15 - 19

Video:

Relationships between visuals + Lyrics:
The relationship between the visuals been shown and the lyrics been sung have very little to do with one another as the footage is mainly of either a female driving a sports car or the camera is focused on 50 Cent and Justin Timberlake rapping. The reason being is the fact that the lyrics been sung is rap which means that not necessarily what is been said will always relate back to the visuals been watched on screen therefore the relationship between both visuals and lyrics are rather minimal. There is some relationships however at certain aspects through the video.

Performance, Narrative + Concept:
The narrative in this video is not as clear as many of 50 Cents other songs that he has sung. The narrative structure for this video shows how 50 Cent  and Justin Timberlake aka the 'Pimps' and how they have control over women and how they use there 'Ayo Technology' to control the women of their desires to do what they want and when they want. This is shown through different scenes by which 50 and Justin use there technology in their cars to control the female body and make the women want them.

Performance Style:
In this video there is little footage of any dancing actually occurring apart from when they are inside the club and the women are dancing around them, despite this there is very little dancing choreographed for the video. Instead the video is more edited and focuses the story around 50 and Justin controlling women of their desire. Despite the lack of dancing in the video the actual footage engages the audience and draws them in to watching the video. This can be seen within the video.
Pace:
The pace of this video is relatively slow to begin with however the pace gradually builds as the rapping becomes more intense and the footage been viewed also speeds up as well, this works really well together and makes the video run more smoothly. Using a variety of different shots and takes has enabled the director of the video to make it seem as if the video is fast paced.

Location + Mise-en-scene:
The location for this video is shot in a city area which cant be specified however this videos location and mise-en-scene is more or less edited and had been green screened, this therefore means that not a great deal of locations were used to make this video. There is however one scene in which they are in a club and the mise-en-scene portrays a nightclub well and gets across to the audience that 50 and Tiberlake are in inside a club with lots of music and women. This works really well.

Mini-Vid Planning tbc

Planning:
When planning for our group mini-vid, we sat down as a group and allocated certain jobs to certain people in order to ensure that on the day of the shoot everyone was there with what was required from them, for example i was asked to make sure i brought a pirate costume for one of the scenes to be shot in our mini-vid. Also when in the group we planned a date, location and went to the head of the PE department to gain access to the pool and two of the canoes which we were going to require for our shoot.

Costumes:
The costumes that we have chosen for our mini-vid is pirate costumes, therefore we had to bring in eye patches, bandanas, pirate hooks and gold coins which you would expect to find your stereotypical pirate wearing.

Location:
The location that we chose for our pirate scene changed for certain scenes, for example we used the school gym for the climbing up the ropes and the wave effect using the crash mats for the sea scene. We also used the school swimming pool as well as a scene for our pirate battle scene.

Class Vid - Group Idea

The song that we chose as a class to do as our ClassVid was Jake's idea, the song that jake had chosen was 'One thing' by One Direction. We all voted for Jake's idea as it was the best and it meant that everyone could be involved and that it would be rather fun to do seen as it could be made comical by which instead of the main singers been the 5 boys it was made different and the main characters were to be the girls.

Here is the video of the song that has been chosen for our ClassVid:

Mini-Vid Editing on Final Cut Pro X

Below is my Mini-Vid of Jolly Rodger which i have edited myself using various techniques of editing styles on Final Cut Pro:

Here is a few of the editing tools i used when creating my own edited version of the mini-vid:

Here you can see that i have used various types of editing effects which i have placed over certain aspects of my video to help give the previous footage more effect and give it more realism and relate it to the lyrics been sung throughout the duration of the video i.e. the fact that they are pirates on the sea therefor i added a rain effect.
Use of rain effects
In this next image you can see how i have added a fade effect which is also known as a transition effect which allows me to fade the colour of the image on screen out and allow the flow of the edit to the next scene to run more smoothly, i think that this worked relatively well at certain points during my edit however i believe that it could be better.

The grey part is where the transition has been added
The next editing tool that i added when creating my own edit was using certain effect which could be placed over different parts of the video to help create a older effect, for example i used a video effect called '50's TV' this effect gave my scene a older look and helped it relate to the video.
Here you can see the variety of options available
The final editing technique that i used in my edit was placing one of the clips that i had shot in reverse to add a bit more effect and also to play around with some of the tools and effects that were available. In order to do this i had to click onto 'modify' then 'retime' then scroll down onto 'reverse clip'. Simply from here you had to click on reverse clip and select the certain aspect of the video you wished to have in reverse.
Here is a scene which is in reverse
In conclusion the various editing techniques that are available are rather useful and when used in the correct manor they can give the video a good finish and make it to a high standard, I believe that what i have produced is not satisfactory in certain ways due to the fact that I didn't have much experience in using Final Cut Pro and how to edit, however from doing this and been able to play around with certain editing software I have learnt where I have gone wrong and how I could improve my video by using different techniques.

Class Vid Pitch - Duke Dumont feat. A*M*E - Need U (100%)

Act: Duke Dumont feat. A*M*E
Track: Need U (100%)
Year: 2013
Director: Duke Dumont
Genre: House
Main Audience: Teenage audience and early 20's

Video:

I chose this song as my idea for a class vid because it was suggested by some friends and they believed that it would be a good video to do a remake of with all the class members  and would be enjoyable to do as people would be able to dress up and have some fun, also the lyrics are not hard to lip sink therefore not making it too difficult unlike other songs. I also agreed with the opinions that my friends had made and therefore i have chosen this song by Duke Dumont.

Pitch:

Here below is my class vid pitch for the song 'Need U' by Duke Dumont, in this pitch i have chosen a certain part from the original song and added some screenshots from the original video to show and give the audience an idea of what my pitch is and the type of locations and outfits that would be required for my video.

Eg 2 Classified feat. David Myles - Inner Ninja

Act: Classified feat. David Myles
Track: Inner Ninja
Year: 2012
Director: RT
Genre: Hip Hop
Main Audience: Teenagers aged between 14-19

Video:

Relationships between visuals + Lyrics:
The video for Inner Ninja is related to the lyrics been sung in the song, the visuals in the actual video are of young children dressed up in ninja outfits who stand up for themselves against older characters who try to mug them.
Performance, Narrative + Concept:
There is a clear narrative within this video. The video shows the young children been taught martial arts by the actual singers who are portrayed as the martial arts teachers of the song and showing them how to protect themselves when facing dangers out in the wide world, this leads onto one child been jumped by older male characters on the way home from practise, however fellow children arrive in their ninja outfits and beat the older characters up and scare them off.
Performance Style:
In this video there is very little dancing and instead it is martial arts which is going on as this ties in with the name of the song and the lyrics been sung throughout the entire song. The video is good and engages the viewer to carry on watching the video.
Pace:
The pace for this song is relatively slowly from the beginning but gradually the tempo begins to pick up and remains at a certain rhythm throughout the duration of the music video.
Location + Mise-en-scene:
The location for this video is mainly set within a refined area by which the characters are in a martial arts studio and are doing all sorts of forms of martial arts, there is however one or two scenes where the location changes and the characters are outside on what looks like a back alley in America. The mise-en scene in this video is relevant and all the characters including the singers are dressed up as martial arts students and the choice of nun-chucks and throwing stars help add the ninja effect.
